Let's help our Liberal friends in 2024. They're heads are exploding right now.
The aftermath of October 7 has shocked my liberal friends who live comfy lives
The mainstream media has been protecting our Liberal friends from reality for far too long, so how could they possibly know what’s going on? And when reality pops into view, they’re shocked.
It caused some of my Liberal friends’ heads to pop when they heard the testimony of the three presidents of elite universities testifying in front of the US Congress state that calling for the genocide of Jews may or may not be against school rules. My friends became light-headed and confused.
It all depended on “context”? Context? they wailed. It all depended on “context”?
How could places like Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania and even MIT be led by smug women who, with a smirk, basically said, “We don’t give a shit about Jewish students or how they feel. Keep them locked in their dorms or the library for all we care. Not our problem.” They even smiled as they said that it didn’t violate their schools’ rules.
The other set of my liberal friends had a different reaction. Sitting with a glass of wine in their comfortable homes, they’d say with an air of feeling rather noble, “I’m shocked the president of the University of Pennsylvania was forced to resign. I don’t believe in censorship! How dare they force a woman out of her job like that!”
In a way, you can’t blame either of their reactions. They need our help. These highly educated classic liberals haven’t realized that the Left left them a long time ago, so they really don’t know what they don’t know. Because places like the New York Times, the Washington Post, Facebook, and Twitter before Elon Musk took it over actively protect their gentle readers from factual information — remember the Biden laptop scandal just before the 2020 US elections? — and do their very best to lead their readers astray - remember the Russia Collusion Hoax? - it’s up to us to gently lift away their blinders and help them see a few things they’ve done their best to avoid.
My same friends who fumble over worries about “censorship in elementary schools” haven’t clued in that keeping young children away from inappropriately sexualized and anti-white racist materials in a state-funded school is not actually “censorship”. Those very books are still freely available to purchase. Yet none of these friends remember — because it wasn’t widely covered in the "news” outlets they read — that there ARE books that ARE removed from the marketplace, especially places like Amazon. Books like When Harry Became Sally were swiftly deleted from Amazon (it’s still listed, but as “currently unavailable” and the author can’t se1l it from Amazon so you have to buy the book from Barnes and Noble or directly from the author’s webpage).
They heard nothing about it, nor that Abigail Shrier’s book, Irreversible Damage, was banned on Amazon because it told of the reality that was happening to teenaged girls as a result of the trans ideology movement. Queer employees at Amazon:
know that “Irreversible Damage” actively goes against the company’s policy on LGBTQ+ nonfiction, which states that the company will not support the sale of books that frame gayness or queerness as a mental illness.
The book does no such thing, but Amazon employees had chosen to ban Ms. Shrier’s book and then downlist it and for a time other tech giants wouldn’t allow ads for her book. The American Booksellers Association apologized for this book
Everything that the ultra-Left doesn’t like is now “hate speech” and they hoodwink your average classic liberal into believing all sorts of lies. Places MSNBC and the New York Times do little to help their readers see the truth.
So it’s understandable that your friends who are classic liberals and listen to CNN day and night wouldn’t have a clue about what’s going on.
It will be a difficult challenge, helping our liberal friends. I don’t know about your friends, but the mere suggestion that they might take a peak outside of their normal news stations gets them all riled up, emotional even. When I recommend they listen to a little bit of Fox News or maybe a conservative podcasat, well, you’d think that I’d asked them to walk in a graveyard at midnight on a rainy Friday the 13th.
I gently remind them that I’m their friend, and I just want to help them out of the little box in a dark corner that the mainstream media has tucked them into.
But they can’t, they won’t.
So over the coming months, as you see a potential opening in any of your friends who may have been startled by what’s being on ever since October 7, perhaps you could encourage them to at least listen to Bari Weiss in this youtube video. Like Bari Weiss, I believe in free speech. I want to see where the nasty speech lives and I know that democracy can not function without free speech.
But what the 3 university presidents said in front of the U.S. Congress about their supposed support of free speech was an outright lie. (For one, Harvard ranks last place as a free speech haven.) For years, those of us unafraid to read outside of our little liberal boxes have been seeing the active censorship and cancelling of good people, some of whom said a rational and scientifically-proven fact and lost their jobs and some of whom made a mistake and apologized.
None of my liberal friends know any of this, except through me. And often, when I speak, they sit there in disbelief and feel more comfortable thinking I got my facts mixed up than dare look outside of the little box they’re in.
But the founder of
(Bari Weiss) is very believable. So my Christmas wish is this
It’s my hope that those of us who have known that we must all #StandTall against the racist and divisive “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” policies that now “other” jews and “other” white people, that we #StandTall. It’s my hope that you #StandTall to stop the active censorship of free speech. When places like Harvard and other universities have policies that police speech that the Left doesn’t like — such as saying male-bodied people should not be competing in female sports — but make it clear that calling for the genocide of Jews on those very campuses had to be put “in context”, you know it’s time to #StandTall.
Remind our good, liberal friends (who still have their blinders on) that what we have right now are corporate news outlets that call anything that is a micro-centimeter to the right of the Ultra Left as “hate speech” or “racist” or “White Supremacist”. Encourage your liberal friends that when they read those words they should read them as trigger warning. Warning - if you read that someone was promoting “hate speech” you must really dig into the story more fully. Maybe even read a conservative news story to see what may really have been happening. Offer to hold their hand if they’re too afraid to read outside of their little New York Times / Washington Post / CNN bubble. Be Kind.
And remind your friends that the DEI crowd long ago lumped Jews in with “awful” white people and that any racist remark against these “oppressors” is now fair game. Ya have to put it in context, right? Yet we know it’s dangerous and they should wake up to that fact, too.
We need to help them see what’s really going on.
We need to help them have the courage to say no to the Whacky Left. We need to help them #StandTall and support our collective love and respect for the most important Western value of all: genuine free speech and open dialogue. It is the most primary civil right we have. Without it, we can’t claim any of our other rights.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and may 2024 bring us the courage to #StandTall together.
With affection,
Maret
PS - I actually had other posts to post at this time, but I’m saving them for the new year. They were about the March 6 Montreal Massacre and, I thought, let’s touch on that subject when we’re not sitting down with family and friends to welcome in the new year. There’s enough time to explore more difficult topics. For now, I’m off to celebrate light and love with my family and our many dogs.
